Due to global warming, the average temperature of the Earth’s surface is steadily increasing. Although some controversy still exists over the primary causes of global warming, the Natural Resources Defense Council places the blame on human activity and on air pollutants.

Air pollutants, such as carbon dioxide, collect in the atmosphere and trap dangerous UV rays closer to the Earth’s surface – resulting in temperature changes that adversely affect life on Earth.

Ladies and gentlemen, Today is the day before the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. Today certainly makes us remember our predecessors, freedom fighters who have sacrificed all their souls and bodies to dispel and expel the invaders from our homeland, beloved Indonesia.

With great courage, our heroes fight the colonial forces and allies who continue to bombard our country from land, sea and air. However, the heroes are not afraid to come up against it. They dare to fight for the dignity of this nation.

That spirit is what we should continue to achieve long-lasting glory. We should not be oppressed by other nations who arbitrarily colonize improper means such as drug smuggling and so on. Therefore, on this occasion, allow me to deliver a speech about the struggle for the dignity of the nation.

Every year, we hold a farewell party for our senior students a couple of weeks before their graduation. Have you ever asked yourself, why do we hold it before their graduation? Why not later? Well, the answer is actually pretty simple: the essential meaning of the event itself.

This farewell party is a family event, and we are family. This event is not about the dance or the music performances. This event is about appreciating the chance that we have to gather around together for maybe the last time.

I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, nor I know what will happen in the next five or ten years. Some of you might already be somebody of your dreams living so far from this place. Some of you might still struggle with your dream, fighting so hard to achieve it. But I do know one thing: that our prayer will always be with you, that we will always be hoping for the best for you because you are family.

Terjemahan bahasa Indonesia:

Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb.

The honorable teachers, the respectable master of ceremony, and my beloved friends.

Dear my brothers and sisters,

First of all let’s pray and thanks to Allah SWT for all the mercy and blessings so we can attend this event. Secondly, peace and salutation has been with our Prophet Muhammad SAW who has guide us from the darkness to lightness.

I also would like to say thank you to the master of ceremony who has kindly provided the time for me to speak in front of the audience. In this opportunity, I would like to deliver my speech about “The Importance of Being Grateful”

Being grateful for every moment in our life is very important. That means we cheered and appreciated all the time and all the blessings that Allah SWT has given to us.

Being grateful can make us avoid being envious of other people’s lives. If we are grateful of our life we will not be greedy and envious of what other people have.

Also, we can understand that every person has their own struggle, so we must be grateful for what we have. We must being grateful that we’re all still healthy in this situation so we can meet in this event.

That’s all from me. I think it’s time to finish my speech. Thank you very much for your attention.

Wassalamualaikum Wr. Wb.

5. Pidato bahasa Inggris tentang akhlak

Assalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

The honorable Mr. Hidayat Tandi, the honorable Miss Desi Gumirna, and all my beloved classmates.

I am going to start my speech with a question. Which one is better, doing the right thing or doing the good thing? I give you 20 seconds to decide your choice. Now what is your answer? I believe most of you still can’t decide. Don’t worry about it, I still couldn’t decide it myself.

Do you know why it is difficult for us to choose between the two options that I just mentioned to you just now? Because the question is not really about what we decide to choose, but it is about whether or not we have strong morality inside us.

When we talk about Morality, I don’t think there is a fixed definition about it. Morality for me is not only about right or wrong, but it is also about whether or not something that we do is kind or good.

If we rely on this definition, there will be a question in our mind. The question is what is good and what is not? What is the basis for us to tell whether an action is kind or not?

Well, that is just how difficult it is for us to define Morality. For me, Morality is not about a definition from dictionary, because the only thing that can help us to tell whether something is good or not is heart, and as much as we want to believe that the heart is a pure thing, we have to admit that it is also influenced by various external concepts that is exposed to us over and over again.

I think that’s all from me. I hope you find something useful from my speech. Thank you very much for your attention and see you again.

Wassalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

6. Pidato bahasa Inggris bullying

iStock

Ladies and gentlemen, bullying may seem like a small problem for some people. Most people may not realize that the damage caused by bullying can be so serious. It can be as serious as “death” in extreme cases. If you think that bullying is not a serious matter to deal with just because it merely hurts “feelings” then I have to tell you that you are completely wrong. This “merely hurt your feelings” thing can be the beginning of various worse scenarios such as physical assault, suicide, or any other kinds of violent acts carried out in the name of revenge.

As I said just now that bullying is not a serious problem for some people, just because we simply don’t see the damage. But the thing is, based on my experience as a teacher, I learned that the effect of bullying can stay undetected for years. During this time, the effect of bullying keeps corrupting the soul of the victim. They may hold it inside as a grudge, or they may also develop trauma which may result in self-withdrawal. I believe that this is something that we don’t want to happen to our children.

7. Pidato bahasa Inggris Islami

Assalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

The audience who I respect. In this excellent opportunity, let us praise panjatkan the presence of Almighty God. Where we were given favors in the form of health and age to this point so we can get together in an event welcoming the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan.

The speech which I will pass on this explains the virtue of fasting in the month of Ramadan. We all know that we are obliged to fast in the holy month of Ramadan as it has also been obliged to those who are before us all. As the word of God in Sura Al-Baqarah verse 183 meaning as follows:

“O faithful people! Fasting is obligatory upon you guys as has been obligatory upon those before you, that ye may be a pious man” (QS. Al-Baqara: 183).

The text gives a sense to us that the obligation of fasting in Ramadan was not just to us, but since the elect before we or the people of Prophet Muhammad. As for the background of fasting it is printing a human to be godly to God how not fasting, it can know is just God and himself. In addition to fasting it leaves things that previously allowed such as eating, drinking, having intercourse with my wife and so on that if not fasting are allowed, but when fasting then is Haraam and invalidates the fast. Because it is obedient to God’s command though it is lawful. We have to prevent it because of sheer obedience and fear of God and the hope of his good pleasure.

Half of the virtue of people fasting is got two excitement, that is breaking on the excitement at meeting with God. People who perform the fasting one day will cause us to be forgiven of our sins have passed or to come. When the month of Ramadan has ended perfectly, the person will be clean from sin until the end of the year and if that person died in the month of Ramadan, then later in the day of judgement will come clean from all sin.

So I can tell them the speech. Hopefully what I’ve saturated is beneficial and accompanied by the guidance and the pleasure of Allah SWT.

Wassalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

8. Pidato Emma Watson di PBB

pidato bahasa inggris
Time

Berikut penggalan pidato Emma Watson terkait kampanye “HeForShe” di Kantor PBB, New York pada 2014 lalu, sebagaimana dikutip dari laman UN Women.

Today we are launching a campaign called “HeForShe.” I am reaching out to you because I need your help. We want to end gender inequality—and to do that we need everyone to be involved. This is the first campaign of its kind at the UN: we want to try and galvanize as many men and boys as possible to be advocates for gender equality. And we don’t just want to talk about it, but make sure it is tangible.

I was appointed six months ago and the more I have spoken about feminism the more I have realized that fighting for women’s rights has too often become synonymous with man-hating. If there is one thing I know for certain, it is that this has to stop.

For the record, feminism by definition is: “The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. It is the theory of the political, economic and social equality of the sexes.” I started questioning gender-based assumptions when at eight I was confused at being called “bossy,” because I wanted to direct the plays we would put on for our parents—but the boys were not.

Men—I would like to take this opportunity to extend your formal invitation. Gender equality is your issue too. Because to date, I’ve seen my father’s role as a parent being valued less by society despite my needing his presence as a child as much as my mother’s.

We don’t often talk about men being imprisoned by gender stereotypes but I can see that that they are and that when they are free, things will change for women as a natural consequence. If men don’t have to be aggressive in order to be accepted women won’t feel compelled to be submissive. If men don’t have to control, women won’t have to be controlled.

Both men and women should feel free to be sensitive. Both men and women should feel free to be strong. It is time that we all perceive gender on a spectrum not as two opposing sets of ideals.

We are struggling for a uniting word but the good news is we have a uniting movement. It is called HeForShe. I am inviting you to step forward, to be seen to speak up, to be the “he” for “she”. And to ask yourself if not me, who? If not now, when? Thank you.

9. Pidato BTS di Sidang Umum PBB ke-73

pidato bahasa inggris
UNICEF

Berikut adalah contoh pidato yang disampaikan oleh leader boyband BTS, RM alias Kim Nam Joon di Sidang Umum PBB ke-73 pada 2018 lalu yang dikutip dari laman UNICEF.

Thank you, Mr. Secretary General, UNICEF Executive Director, Excellencies and distinguished guests from across the world.

My name is Kim Nam Joon, also known as RM, the leader of the group BTS. It’s an incredible honour to be invited to an occasion with such significance for today’s young generation.

Last November, BTS launched the “Love Myself” campaign with UNICEF, building on our belief that “true love first begins with loving myself.”  We have been partnering with UNICEF’s #ENDviolence program to protect children and young people all over the world from violence. Our fans have become a major part of this campaign with their action and enthusiasm.  We truly have the best fans in the world!

I would like to begin by talking about myself. I was born in Ilsan, a city near Seoul, South Korea. It’s a beautiful place, with a lake, hills, and even an annual flower festival. I spent a happy childhood there, and I was just an ordinary boy. I would look up at the night sky in wonder and dream the dreams of a boy. I used to imagine that I was a superhero, saving the world.

In an intro to one of our early albums, there is a line that says, “My heart stopped…I was maybe nine or ten.” Looking back, that’s when I began to worry about what other people thought of me and started seeing myself through their eyes. I stopped looking up at the stars at night. I stopped daydreaming. I tried to jam myself into moulds that other people made. Soon, I began to shut out my own voice and started to listen to the voices of others. No one called out my name, and neither did I. My heart stopped and my eyes closed shut. So, like this, I, we, all lost our names. We became like ghosts.

I had one sanctuary, and that was music. There was a small voice in me that said, ‘Wake up, man, and listen to yourself!” But it took me a long time to hear music calling my name. Even after making the decision to join BTS, there were hurdles. Most people thought we were hopeless. Sometimes, I just wanted to quit.

I think I was very lucky that I didn’t give it all up. I’m sure that I, and we, will keep stumbling and falling. We have become artists performing in huge stadiums and selling millions of albums.

But I am still an ordinary, twenty-four-year-old guy. If there’s anything that I’ve achieved, it was only possible because I had my other BTS members by my side, and because of the love and support of our ARMY fans.

Maybe I made a mistake yesterday, but yesterday’s me is still me. I am who I am today, with all my faults. Tomorrow I might be a tiny bit wiser, and that’s me, too. These faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life. I have come to love myself for who I was, who I am, and who I hope to become.

I would like to say one last thing. After releasing the “Love Yourself” albums and launching the “Love Myself” campaign,  we started to hear remarkable stories from our fans all over the world,  how our message helped them overcome their hardships in life and start loving themselves. These stories constantly remind us of our responsibility. So, let’s all take one more step. We have learned to love ourselves, so now I urge you to “speak yourself.”

I would like to ask all of you. What is your name? What excites you and makes your heart beat? Tell me your story. I want to hear your voice, and I want to hear your conviction. No matter who you are, where you’re from, your skin colour, gender identity: speak yourself. Find your name, find your voice by speaking yourself.

I’m Kim Nam Joon, RM of BTS. I’m a hip-hop idol and an artist from a small town in Korea. Like most people, I made many mistakes in my life. I have many faults and I have many fears, but I am going to embrace myself as hard as I can, and I’m starting to love myself, little by little. “What is your name? Speak Yourself!”

10. Pidato JK Rowling di Harvard University

pidato bahasa inggris
Harvard

Penulis buku populer Harry Potter, JK Rowling menyampaikan pidato pada acara wisuda di Harvard University pada 2008. Berikut penggalan teks pidato JK Rowling yang dikutip dari laman The Harvard Gazette.

President Faust, members of the Harvard Corporation and the Board of Overseers, members of the faculty, proud parents, and, above all, graduates.

The first thing I would like to say is thank you. Not only has Harvard given me an extraordinary honour, but the weeks of fear and nausea I have endured at the thought of giving this commencement address have made me lose weight. A win-win situation! Now all I have to do is take deep breaths, squint at the red banners and convince myself that I am at the world’s largest Gryffindor reunion.

Delivering a commencement address is a great responsibility; or so I thought until I cast my mind back to my own graduation. The commencement speaker that day was the distinguished British philosopher Baroness Mary Warnock. Reflecting on her speech has helped me enormously in writing this one, because it turns out that I can’t remember a single word she said. This liberating discovery enables me to proceed without any fear that I might inadvertently influence you to abandon promising careers in business, the law or politics for the giddy delights of becoming a gay wizard.

Actually, I have wracked my mind and heart for what I ought to say to you today. I have asked myself what I wish I had known at my own graduation, and what important lessons I have learned in the 21 years that have expired between that day and this.

I have come up with two answers. On this wonderful day when we are gathered together to celebrate your academic success, I have decided to talk to you about the benefits of failure. And as you stand on the threshold of what is sometimes called “real life,” I want to extol the crucial importance of imagination. These may seem quixotic or paradoxical choices, but please bear with me.
